Big Rain and Big Haircut

Rain has officially come to Cayman. I know I said it rained last week but last night around 8 PM it started and has not stopped since. Our backyard looks like a pond. The weather is either nice and hot or pouring rain.

Siena's name is temporarily Big Haircut. She looks cute :)

Last night I went and saw The Proposal. So funny! Girls never get to be really funny in movies but there was this one part that Sandra Bullock was going so crazy that I was almost in tears I was laughing so hard. She's great.

Bob had a nice night with the boys playing poker at Rob and Monica's. He didn't win and will tell you all about it if you ask (I wouldn't suggest it :).

We actually don't have anything planned this weekend. I'm trying to talk Monica into a couples dinner at Casanova's Italian restaurant on Saturday night. If the weather is nice we are going to go to the beach on Sunday.

We can't seem to hold still :)

This weekend Bob and I decided to move apartments. We are moving from South Sound/South George Town to Governor's Harbor. The benefit? Our new place is a 7 min walk to 7 mile beach and on a canal. Awesome. It is a little larger than our current place with more seating for friends. We hope it will end up being a positive move. I was doing the math and this will be my 11th living location in 8 years. Yikes, right? It is move 10 for Bob. At least this time we won't have to move furniture!

This past weekend was fun. We went on a boat with a bunch of people from Deloitte and it was a good time. Sunday we rented a few movies and grilled. It was a nice lazy day. It rained a lot on Sunday again, but the rest of the weekend was perfect.

Long weekend

Last weekend was a long one that concluded with the loss of the internet. Something I've learned about Cayman is that sometimes things just don't work. Usually they will mysteriously start working again, but this time I had to intervene and it took a couple of days to figure out the problem. So sorry about the lack of posts lately. I'm going to try to do better.

Monday was the Queen's birthday holiday and we had a nice long weekend with friends. Friday night we went to a Braai (grilled out) at Rob and Monica's, Saturday we went on our friend Greg's boat for a nice afternoon at stingray city and rum point, then on Sunday Bob and I went with the crew to champagne brunch. It was lots of fun hanging out with friends, but by Monday we were shattered.

Monday we had our first glimpse of what "rain" means here. It was pouring for an hour and then continued to rain steadily the rest of the day. There really aren't drains here so the roads were flooding pretty bad. Our backyard looked like a pond, but didn't stay that way long. Not like at home after a good rain were the water will sit for a day or two. The next morning you would never have known it happened.

I've not been taking many pictures mostly because we do not have a waterproof camera and our friends do. I need to ask Monica for some photos. If you are on facebook I'd suggest taking a look at Bob and my pages. There are some nice photos from the weekend.

Dog Update: This week she was limping and it was so sad to watch. I was really worried about it Tuesday, but I checked her leg and nothing seemed broken and she never had an area of swelling or tenderness. We decided to just wait a day or two to see if her condition changed and today she is almost 100%. She wrestles with the dogs around here a lot and we think she probably just pulled a muscle or sprained her ankle. The girl upstairs was a vet and she mentioned her dog has been limping as well, so hopefully it was just our dogs being rowdy.

This weekend we are going out on a boat again! Another round of stingray city and rum point/kaibo. This time we are going with Bob's work on a "party boat", it is like one of those team building/relaxation things. Whatever, I love stingrays - I don't think I'll every get tired of them! I also never thought I'd enjoy going on boat rides this much. As some of you can attest, I usually get sea sick, even on short trips. But here the water in the bay is so calm and the breeze is so nice, it really is enjoyable to go!

Super SUCCESS

Awesome week!

Success #1: Siena can SWIM! It finally clicked for her this week. We are also happy because she seems to really enjoy swimming. She likes chasing balls and leaves in the water and swimming to and from Bob and I. We still have to hold her occasionally. Sometimes she tries to stand like her people do and we have to help her out. Other than that, it is going well. It is really hot out during the day and it definitely makes our beach time more enjoyable!

Success #2: Yesterday we saw not one, but TWO sea turtles while snorkeling! I was so pleased, i've been wanting to see them in the wild my whole life! They weren't the large green turtles, but they were cute just the same. It was neat to watch them fly through the water and eat coral.

Today Bob and I have chosen to be lazy. We are going to rent some movies, grill out and enjoy a relaxing Sunday. Not much going on next week. We may go to a braai/grill at a friends house and will probably try to go to the turtle farm next weekend. I didn't want to go until I saw a turtle in the wild.

Bob and I both have new cell phone numbers. If you'd like them you can email either of us and we will pass it on to you :)
