Health Update

On Wednesday Siena went to the vet but didn't end up having X-rays on her leg. The vet observed her walking, trotting, running, sitting, laying and standing and said that she could see improvement. We are now going to start walking her again (not running) and if she gets worse bring her in for X-rays. So far she has seemed alright. We just need to keep her from going nuts running, especially on the sand. The problem is that running and going nuts are her favorite things to do! We are glad to exercise her again, we've all gained a little weight without our family exercises :)

Also this week Bob touched something (probably a plant) that he had a bad allergic reaction to. His eyelids were super red, puffy, and itchy all week. He went to the doctor and received medicine, so it should start getting better soon. Good thing he has a nice pair of glasses to wear to work!

Not much else going on. We are preparing for our visit to the states here in two weeks. We are SOOO excited to eat real Mexican food and some KC bbq (and see our families of course). We will be in St Louis Aug 6th-8th and KC Aug 11th-15th. If you want to hang out just email one of us or call us on Bob's cell phone number (the 913 number he's always had). We only have the one US number now. We are thinking of getting people together, maybe at the plaza, maybe on friday? We shall see :)

Jessi and Brad's Visit

This past week Jessi was in Cayman with her boyfriend Brad to visit the Caribbean. We took them to all the best places in Cayman. The pirate ship sunset cruise, brunch, a beach braai, and snorkeling were some of the highlights!

Saturday Bob and I took it easy around here. We went to see "Year One" in the afternoon and grilled dinner. Sunday we went to the Ritz-Carlton brunch to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary (actual anniversary is on Wednesday). It was a fancy brunch and we tried all sorts of odd foods like a savory cheesecake with salmon, dill and caviar and a cauliflower au gratin with black truffles. It was more expensive than any other brunch we've been to, but a nice treat for a special occasion. We still think that the Marriott brunch is our favorite.

Wednesday we are taking the dog to get Xrays and we hope nothing too serious is wrong, but that they can figure something out.

Bring on the weekend!

This weekend Jessi and her boyfriend Brad are coming from Vegas and Arizona to Cayman! Hooray for visitors! Our friends here on the island are preparing to pick Jessi's brain about Vegas, most of them are going sometime in the next few months. It is fun that we can have visitors. We have some fun things planned like a beach braai, brunch, snorkeling, etc. Should be fun!

Update on the car: My friend Monica took me to get the tire fixed and it was easier than I thought it would be.

Update on Siena: She is still limping and is scheduled for X-rays on the 22nd. The vet hopes that the fact we took her to the beach a week ago along with the other vet flexing Siena's shoulder just aggravated a pull or sprain she received two weeks earlier and that by the 22nd she will be fine. It is just sad, she is getting a little depressed that we don't let her run around anymore.

Dog vs Iguana: Siena 1, Iguana 0

This week Siena finally had a confrontation with a large green iguana. She successfully chased him up the tree. I couldn't grab my camera fast enough, but in the photo above you can see Siena focused on barking at the iguana and below is a close up of said iguana up the tree.

On the fourth of july we went to Boatswain's Beach, home of the Turtle Farm. It is cool because you get to hold a sea turtle. It is not cool because all the turtles you see will become lunch. They do release some turtles back to the wild, but not many of the poor little guys. They also are in small tanks with a LOT of algae. We went through the place in about 30 min.

Yesterday we went to brunch and then to the beach. Good times! Bob is off of work today and we were going to go to the store and run errands but we have a flat tire. So now we are spending the day trying to figure out how to deal with it. Boo. I miss Walmart Auto Center (never thought I'd say that). Other bad news, Siena is still limping. X rays will be on Wednesday if she isn't better. :( The vet says it is her shoulder and she has been on pain killers this week. I just hope it isn't something that requires surgery!
