Your Siena Fix

It feels like forever since I posted about Siena. Here are a few photos of our sweet little pup from her 2nd Birthday.

Siena loves to be a cuddly puppy in the evenings. She especially loves belly rubs.

Siena found a frog outside and did not eat it! I think because when she put it in her mouth the frog peed or tasted bad. She did enjoy watching it hop around.

Happy Birthday Siena! Thanks for calming down a bit.

So Many Visitors, So Little Time . . . Part 2

My parents came down this past week for a break from then winter weather as well. It was a little overcast here, but that just made for a more pleasant trip. Not quite so hot.

Here are some highlights-

The family at stingray city:

We went to the Mardi Gras party at Kaibo for some drinks and good times:

Mom and Dad really enjoyed seeing all of the wild life, especially through snorkeling and SCUBA diving. I think we found out where Clifton got it from:

Sunday Brunch at the Ritz-Carlton:

Rum Point for lunch. Mom and Dad went around the whole island on Monday and saw the "sights".

Mom and Dad's last night on island. We ate at one of the many outdoor restaurants by the sea. I think they ate every kind of local fish and lobster while they were here.

So Many Visitors, So Little Time . . . Part 1

We love visitors. Like a lot. It gives us an excuse to "vacation". On a whim, our friend (and blog reader) Andrew Balk took a weekend break from residency and came to Cayman. It probably wasn't hard for him to decide to come here rather than stay in the frigid, snow covered NYC. We still aren't sure how his flights from NYC and Philly actually took off. Divine intervention maybe?

Here are some highlights-

Happy hour to meet friends and drink pina coladas.

Boys at the beach . . . should I be worried?

The boys at brunch . . . the before shot :)

Balk and the sea turtles.

Seriously Cayman?

It seems no matter where I go, all over the world, I will never shake my heritage's stereotypes. And even if I tried, life wouldn't let me.

Example A: The biggest Mardi Gras party on the island has the theme of "The Wizard of Oz" this year.

Ash Wednesday is a national holiday here and so everyone has off to "celebrate". All week long the radio station has been playing an advertisement that begins with the phrase, "You're not in Kansas anymore". No kidding, Cayman.

I'm still not sure how "The Wizard of Oz" and Mardi Gras go together, or why you would celebrate it ON Ash Wednesday. I'm assuming it is because of the film's 70th birthday last year and so they can party all day long?

I do love the usage of Wicked, as I love that musical with all my heart. I doubt they will play any of the songs from the show.
